First Visit, Pregnant Women

Congratulations on your pregnancy! This is a very exciting time for you and your family. Routine dental care during pregnancy is crucial for the health of yourself and your developing baby.

Routine Dental Examination

Our skilled dental team has reserved 60 minutes for you in order to properly evaluate your dental health.

Dental Evaluation
During your first visit we will do a thorough and comprehensive visual examination, including a visual oral cancer screening, evaluation of your teeth, and evaluation of your gum tissues.

Radiographs (x-rays)
Although dental radiographs are proven safe to both the mother and the developing baby, it is the preference of Lowry Family Dentistry to not obtain radiographs during pregnancy. In order to provide you with the most comprehensive of care, we do ask that you obtain the most recent radiographs from your previous dentist, including check up x-rays and a full-series of x-rays.

Preventive Oral Hygiene Treatment
We consider this session to be one of the most valuable services we can provide to you. At this time, we will personalize your home care to maintain the health of your teeth and gums. A beautiful smile begins with a healthy mouth - this is especially true during pregnancy. Studies link dental disease and oral bacteria with low-birth weight babies and pre-term deliveries.

Plan for Treatment
Our skilled dental team and our Treatment Coordinator will present your treatment plan, taking your immediate needs as well as your long term objectives into consideration. We will always recommend the best treatment individualized for you. Where there are choices, we are happy to discuss options. Our goal is the help you keep your teeth for a lifetime. Our treatment recommendation will be based on maximizing the life of your teeth. Following a discussion of your treatment plan, our Treatment Coordinator will help you schedule all recommended appointments.

Please note that if recent radiographs are not available, a treatment plan will not be generated.
